HIJAU@GSB, an integral part of the Business Sustainability Hub, is GSB Green Office initiative that transforms the campus into a Living Lab where sustainability is embedded in everyday workplace practices. It is aligned with USM’s institutional sustainability agenda led by the Institutional Sustainability Division under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network).
HIJAU@GSB integrates sustainability into GSB’s operations through environmental stewardship, staff and stakeholders’ engagement, and evidence-based green innovations. The initiative reflects GSB’s commitment to fostering a sustainable workplace, supporting USM’s long-term sustainability mission, and contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
To be a leading Green Office that fosters a culture of sustainability in governance, the workplace, learning, and industry-community collaboration, driving GSB towards meaningful impact for a sustainable future.
Embedding sustainability through good governance, green operations, education, research, innovation, and strategic collaboration in order to cultivate responsible GSB citizens and generate positive impacts on industry, society, and the environment.

The HIJAU@GSB Green Office initiative is guided by five key focus areas: Green Procurement Principles, Waste Management, Resource Efficiency, Health and Safety, and Staff & Community Engagement. These focus areas provide a comprehensive framework for integrating sustainability into governance, daily operations, workplace practices, and stakeholder collaboration across GSB. Together, they foster a culture of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and continuous improvement, supporting GSB’s aspiration to create meaningful and lasting sustainability impact.
